The Visiting Pet Program's literacy project, Reading to Rover has been tremendously successful. During Reading to Rover, the dogs offer a calm, accepting presence for children topractice their reading aloud skills.

Reading to Rover is a wonderful opportunity to share the unconditional love of the dogs with children who want to read, or who may not have a pet of their own. As well, little ones can sit with mom or dad while being read to along with Rover!

It takes an especially calm and quiet pet to work with children.
